CAHSEE Test Details

The CAHSEE test consists of has two parts - the first one is ELA - a short for English–language arts and the second is mathematics.

First the mathematics part. This basically consists of algebra of the level of grades six and seven. You will also be required proficiency in statistics, data analysis and probability, number sense, measurement and geometry, mathematical reasoning. Students are also asked to demonstrate a strong foundation in computation and arithmetic, including working with decimals, fractions, and percents.

The ELA consists of two parts - the reading and the writing. The reading part includes vocabulary and capability yo comprehend and analyze literary text and information. You will be given a passage follwed by a set of questions to test your reading ability. The writing part will require you to be able to express yourself in English with correct grammar, punctuation and spelling.You should also be able to write in a meaningful way on a give topic.

CAHSEE Passing Score

The mathematics part of the exam has passing score of approximately 55 percent. Which means you will have to answer at least 55 correct questions to pass.

The passing score for the ELA part of the is approximately 70 percent.
