I would like to place a company logo on the PWB on the Silkscreen subclass of the Board Geometry class. I have the logo as both a .dra file and a .dxf file. Which would be easiest, and how is it done? I can't seem to find instructions on this.

I am looking for the same thing... In OrCAD one used to be able to import the DXF file. Then a file.max is created with the logo. Then you would move the object which is a component into the silkscreen layer, then you would save it as an obstacle in the library you can then bring it into the PWB.

In Allegro PCB Editor, I have not yet experimented but you should be able to import DXF, then move it to the desired layer. Make sure you have only two colors in the DXF. Very important since you can't have multi-color. downgrade the image with photoshop or some other program before you can import it. I learned this the hard way too.

If I import the logo as a DXF, what does it appear as in the layout so that I can select it and place it on the appropriate layer? Or does it appear in the list of "parts" not yet placed?

BTW, the Allegro F1 help system is second to none, but only if you can find a related topic in the options of the various menus so that you can highlight the option before pressing F1.

If you want to find any random topic without a related menu option to highlight, then it is a nightmare. You then have to go to the Table of Contents of the online help manuals and start hunting in topics that you *think* might have what you're looking for.

If "F1" can automatically search through the manuals, then why can't Cadence produce a help dialog box with a search function that will do the same thing from a user input search string?

Anyway, thanks,
