Update on USB Hub for Raspberry Pi Zero

February 28th, 2016

We posted hubpixed - the first USB Hub for Raspberry Pi at Kickstarter and the response has been decent. The project crossed $1000 minimum pledge and has 44 backers gathered. One thing that we were curious to know was, the exact proportion of US and Non US sales figures.

We listed the following options for hubpixed.

$8 - Manually Assembled
$10 - Machine Assembled limited to first 500 buyers
$12 - Machine Assembled after 500 buyers
$18 - inlcudes a wifi Card
$20 - Two USB Hubpixed
$32 - Two USB Hubs and two wfi cards
$45 - 5 USB Hubs

A total of 75 Hubpixed have been pledged so far and there are 37 US and 38 non US buyers. The disadvantage for the non US buyer is the steep shipping charge of $20. The US buyer pays only $6 in shipping. That is one reason, the non US buyers are preferring to buy in bulk.

Once our logistics are in place, we will start selling it at our website as well as on Amazon and ebay. Stay tuned and in the meantime look at the project at kickstarter here .

Update March 1, 2016

One of the complaints at Kickstarter backers was the high shipping charge of $20 for non US backers. We understand the frustration as the product cost is only $10 and the shipping at ridiculous $20. This was a great turn off for all Non US buyers. We have started communicating with some companies, including Element14 ( at http://www.newark.com/become-franchised-supplier). We are also in touch with RS Components and other similar companies that can ship in UK or other places.
