How to Add sharethis button in wordpress

The share this button is a useful tool that allows users to share your blog on different

platforms like digg, twitter, facebook etc. This allows you to reach a wider userbase

without taking much of the real estate in your wordpress blog page.

To install this plugin in wordpress go to http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/share-

this/. The procedure and installation instructions are as follows

1. Download the plugin and unzip it.
2. Put the whole share-this directory into your wp-content/plugins/ directory.
3. Go to the Plugins page in your WordPress Administration area and click ‘Activate’

for ShareThis.
4.  Go to http://sharethis.com/wordpress to customize your widget, then copy the code

provided and paste it into the box in Settings > ShareThis and click the update

Sharethis button.
5. On the ShareThis Options page, choose yes for if you want to automatically add ShareThis to your posts and pages, or if you want to add the template tag to your theme.

Try using some of these links in the social bookmarking site yourself. If nothing else it will provide some backlinks to your webpage.

I dedicate this article to Vinay Singh who pointed me about share this. I had earlier in mind Add this button in mind. I do not see much difference in their utility but I will spend some time in comparing the two and will let you know when I get time. May be in next blog….Stay tuned.
